One Act Festival

April 7, 8 & 9

Under the direction of Barbara Thomas, we hosted a One Act Festival on 7th - 9th March at the Haslemere Hall.

Guest adjudicator, John Bromley, summed up the plays performed each evening by local societies and summed up the Festival as a whole on the last night. His comments were well received by all and the honesty of his criticisms was much appreciated by those who took part.

Mr Bromley praised the quality of the plays and gave particular congratulations to Barbara Thomas for organising the event.

An award for the best junior production was given to the C.A.D.S Juniors for their production of Mark Weller's "Sweet F.A.", directed by Tracey St John Taylor. Feydeau's "The Music Lovers", directed by Alastair Vartan received the award for the best production of the festival with two of the cast, Emily Swatton and Will Keith, receiving an award for the best juniors in the festival.

A special award was given to Jane Hamlyn for her portrayal of Ellen Hughes in Diana Morgan's "The Little Evenings".

Although attendance at the first two evenings was limited, there was hardly a spare seat on the last night and Barbara Thomas was encouraged by all to start planning for next year's festival as soon as possible.
